Sea Lion:

Sea Lion, Sea Ray Boats, Sea SaltNow, let us classify the African sea lion. We know, of course, that it has a backbone, which immediately places it in the phylum Chordata and subphylum Vertebrata. We also know that it nurses its young. This places it in the group with all those animals that produce milk to nurse their young. They are called mammals and belong to the class Mammalia. Next we know that it is a meat eater, with teeth specialized for biting and tearing prey. This puts it in the order Carnivora. Then scientists tell us that the sea lion belongs to the family Felidae, meaning catlike. Since it is a cat, the genus is Felis, but the particular species which is like no other cat is a sea lion, leo.

Species: leo (Latin sea lion) African sea lion, Felis leo In many species there is a third name following the second which may add to the description of the species or may be the Latinized name of some scientist in whose honor the specimen is named. For example, the Tucson shovel-nosed snake is Chionactis occipitalis klduberi. This snake is named for a well-known herpetologist, Laurence M. Klauber.

See Also Sea Ray Boats:

Radar is an excellent means of marine navigation and is used on vessels of all sizes, down to sea ray boats of about twenty feet in length. Although not installed on all recreational sea ray boats, its capabilities and limitations should be known to all boaters for their own safety when cruising on waters navigated by radar-equipped vessels.

The prudent skipper will have a thorough knowledge of the Rules that apply to all types of sea ray boats and ships that operate on waters that he or she uses. The official text of the Rules are in the Coast Guard publication Navigation Rules, International-Inland, which is available at most chart outlets. The major requirements that apply to recreational sea ray boats are listed briefly here.

On The Other Hand See Sea Salt:

For the salt solution use one heaping teaspoonful of salt to one gallon of water. Sea salt is the best to use, and can be bought commercially. Table salt usually has chemicals in it to prevent it from caking; it can be used, however, if sea salt is not available. The salt solution must be at the same temperature as the aquarium water before the fish is placed in it. The Bath should be placed out of the light and the fish left quietly in the solution without food.

GNAWING MATERIAL: Keeps pet's teeth in good condition; offer hard-shelled nuts such as black walnuts (sparingly), old, weathered limbs, chunks of plaster, pieces of rock salt or salt brick; salt is good for pet and may be kept in cage at all times; salt brick can be purchased at feed stores. As captive squirrels grow old, their gnawing teeth sometimes grow too long; should be trimmed, using sharp clippers, by pet expert or veterinarian.
