Purple Sea Urchin: The aquarium is in the Basement of the building yet even this level is fifty meters (166 feet) above the sea. By an ingenious device called the ondopompe (wave pump) the surf, which beats continuously at the base of the cliff, drives up, by the force of Nature, the salt water needed for the fish tanks. The Lighting of the place is in consonance with its ichthyan nature. All the electric light bulbs are enclosed in huge sea-urchin shells which serve as shades.
Next we picked glory of the snow, Chionodoxa lucilae 'Pink Giant', a cultivar that bears eight to ten rose-pink flowers on every stem. And two charming fririllarias, Fritillaria meleagris 'Artemis' with a checkered pattern of purple sea urchin and green, and 'Poseidon' gleaming white with purple sea urchin checks.See Also Sea Dog:
On The Other Hand See Adriatic Sea:7. Summer Courses for Students and Teachers In Zagreb a study course in the Serbo-Croatian language and Yugoslav literature is offered to foreign students. For details inquire of the Yugoslav State Tourist Office.
8. Sports to be Witnessed or Practiced Regattas, both national and international, are favorite sports of Yugoslavia, with its long and island-sheltered adriatic sea coast line. At least four are of importance: The Istrian Regatta, starting and ending at Pula; the long adriatic sea Regatta, held on the Pula-Dubrovnik route; the Split Regatta; and the Vis Regatta, from Split to Vis and back again.
On the adriatic sea coast, consider Faenza, which gave its name to faience and has a unique International Museum of Ceramics with permanent exhibits from some twenty countries; Rimini, port city of the lurid Malatesta Family, and, of course, the operetta Republic of San Marino.
