Adult (moth sailing): Difficult to distinguish from tomato moth sailing; characteristic feature is number of yellow spots on each side of abdomen; 5 spots only on tobacco moth sailing.
Bee moth sailing is a common pest in hives that are not kept thoroughly clean; larvae of this moth sailing bore through and feed on wax of comb. To control, see that hive is thoroughly cleaned once a year. Watch for bee moth sailings in April and May when they begin to deposit eggs in hives. Sports for participation include hiking, fishing, bathing, sailing yachts, and, in winter, skiing (especially at Are), skijoring (being drawn on skis by a trotting horse), skate-sailing yachts and, most thrilling of all, ice yachting. If the last three venturesome sports call you, the Tourist Association will give you a steer on how to go about engaging in them.
