BEFORE FUELING

8. When fueling a Boat motors with an outboard motor, remove any portable tanks and fill them on shore.
Cheaper models, especially among rotaries, often have motors adequate for ideal conditions but are liable to conk out when the going gets tough. Note that some rotaries are propelled by the motor, with others the cutting blade is power driven but the machine must be pushed by hand. This is easy because the pusher doesn't supply energy for shearing grass as with a hand operated reel machine, he simply trundles the mower along. With rotaries up to 21-inch size there is little or no advantage in self propulsion. Usually in such sizes both self-propelled and push models have motors of the same horsepower. An advantage of the push model is that all the power is available for cutting; when the going is rough they perform better than the type where some of the power is used for propelling the mower.
